NORTH WEST PERMIT APPLICATION
The correct management and conservation of our wildlife is of paramount importance throughout South Africa. To better manage leopard in North West Province, we require a fast and efficient way of accessing all permit applications to hunt leopard. Please use the map at the bottom of the page to find your correct GPS co-ordinates (in decimal degrees).
Step 1 - Read through the information on this website so that you thoroughly understand the process. Step 2 - Complete the online application form (you will receive an automated response via email on completion). Further explanation of hunting zones:
- Only male leopard may be hunted.
- Permits are awarded to landowners, not hunting outfitters.
- Only ONE hunting zone can be applied for per application (i.e., all GPS co-ordinates must fall within ONE zone).
- GPS co-ordinates (centre point of each property) must be in decimal degrees (please use the map below).
- Hard copy applications are no longer required. Only when an applicant is allocated a permit in a particular zone will they have to provide hard copy documents (e.g., hunting rights).
- Hunt return forms must be fully completed and submitted online within 15 days.
- Hunt return forms must be submitted, even for unsuccessful hunts.
- After completing the application form, you will receive an automated response via email.
- The hunting of female leopard is prohibited.
- Export permits will be withheld if a female is hunted, or if hunt return forms are not fully and correctly completed online.
Your application could be rejected on the basis of any of the following:
- If information on your application is found to be untruthful.
- If your GPS co-ordinates fall on more than ONE hunting zone.
- If you fail to provide all registered property names.
- If you fail to provide all GPS co-ordinates.
- If you fail to provide GPS co-ordinates in decimal degrees.
- If you submit more than ONE application (however, if you submit an application in error please email the SA Leopard Hunting team).
- If you fail to provide hard-copy documents after winning your zone.
- If your combined properties are found not to border one another.

Please take special care when deciding which properties you wish to include on your application. If your group of properties fall into more than one hunting zone your application will be disqualified. To the left is a simple explanation of how the system works.

HOW TO USE THIS INTERACTIVE MAP
- Step 1 - Once the map is loaded, zoom into the approximate location of the properties you wish to hunt on.
- Important – the leopard hunting zones are highlighted on the map.
- Step 2 – Add a marker by clicking on the map with your curser in the approximate centre of the property you would like to hunt. You may select multiple adjoining properties within a single hunting zone.
- Important – selected properties must be within only one hunting zone. Markers cannot be placed in multiple zones or outside of zones. If any markers are placed outside of a hunting zone your application will be automatically disqualified.
- Important - to delete markers, click the ‘Reset Markers’ on the Control box.
- Step 3 - Once all markers are placed on your desired properties, highlight the GPS coordinates on the Controls box, right click with your mouse and select ‘Copy’
- Important - this will copy all the GPS co-ordinates to your computer's memory.
- Important - place only one marker per property.
- Step 4 - Paste the GPS co-ordinates into the required form field above.
- Optional - you can toggle between satellite imagery and street map view by clicking on the layers button at the top right corner of the map.
- Optional - use the Search Bar to search for places, addresses, and GPS co-ordinates (co-ordinates must be in decimal degrees and separated by a semi-colon; e.g., -27.345 ; 28.123).
