KNOWN-AGE LEOPARD
Below is a selection of known-age leopard from the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. We strongly encourage participants to familiarise themselves with these images, and more importantly, with the key characteristics used to distinguish each leopard's age. Remember the key characteristics of an eligible leopard trophy are: (1) presence of a prominent dewlap, (2) extensive facial scarring, (3) poor ear condition, (4) large head and muscular chest, and (5) positive identification of testes. Please note that one characteristic alone is not enough, hunters must use multiple characteristics to make an informed decision when aging leopard in the field. Remember, always exercise caution, and if you're not sure then don't pull the trigger.
